Spring?

This week was Spring Break. But not according to Mother Nature. It has been cold and even snowy! So much for "spring" break! The weather man is calling for 70 on Sunday though, so hopefully that will kick spring into gear!

We have been very busy! So I'll start with the drama. We still have Melinda and just about 2 weeks ago she somehow managed to get stuck on a bolt and panic thereby ripping here skin very badly. It was awful! Of course it was Sunday, but luckily my vet has a 24hr emergency clinic. She had emergency surgery and is now doing much better. Her stitches get to come out this Sunday and then she should be all set. Hopefully that perfect family comes along soon!

I joined Weight Watchers and in 6 weeks I have lost 15 pounds!! I am so excited and am finding this program very easy to follow. I still eat all the things I like just not a whole box of cookies at once, lol! My mom has also joined and lost over 8 pounds. We are even going to walk a 5K on May 21st. We are very excited for it. Hopefully Spring is here by then!

Randy is still selling cars and working lots of hours. poor guy! When he's not working he's been golfing despite the weather. Or playing with his John Deere tractor. He'll be plowing our garden soon. I still haven't decided what to plant this year.

Anna is doing great in school. Her artwork was chosen to be in the district wide Art Show so she is super excited about all that. She's been busy this spring break. We went to a new play place called Jungle Java , she took a candy making class with her BFF  and we went to Build A Bear with Grandma. It's been a busy week and I think I need a vacation!

Here's some pictures from candy making:

Snow Day!!

For the last week the local weather has been abuzz about the Blizzard of 2011 that was heading our way.  Tuesday night was d-day and the days before were filled with warnings of 15 plus inches of snow and crazy winds. People were clearing grocery store shelves and waiting for the blizzard. Well it did get really windy and cold and it even snowed but we only ended up with about 7 inches when all was said and done. It was enough for a snow day though and Anna was super excited. We spent lots of time crafting, baking and playing in the snow.  Here are a few highlights:

Having fun!

Sliding down and

Splat!

Today we returned to normal and I made a treat to reward Anna's class for meeting a goal of everyone having their folders in on time for me to fill. I made chocolate covered strawberry marshmallow pops and I think they turned out so cute. Anna tried one and said they taste yummy too.

Cold

It's cold up here. Below zero bone chillin' cold and it sucks! I'm ready for spring but it looks like I will have to settle for above zero which will be a BIG improvement over the last week. Never thought I would be excited to see 32 degrees?!

We have a new foster dog, her name is Melinda and she is a Weimaraner. She's very sweet but super shy and scared. She's been with us 2 weeks and doing much better but she has a long road ahead of her.  She has learned to love the couch and people food and is getting spoiled. And it turns out she is completely housebroken and good when nobody is home. I hope we can find her that perfect home soon so she bond with her forever family.

Anna is doing well and enjoying the winter. She snowmobiles whenever she can and her friend Olivia has an ice rink in her yard and taught Anna to ice skate. She's going to start lessons next month she liked it so much and did really well. Tomorrow is report card day and I am sure she did great. Friday is Bingo Night at school and Anna is really excited to go. She loves playing Bingo! She's also been practicing her poses, what do you think?( Please ignore the horrible mess in the background!)

Our big TV blew up last week. You would have thought someone died the way Randy and Anna acted, lol! We have 2 other TV's to watch in the house but apparently they aren't big enough! But fear not they have replaced it with a 73 inch one so all is well again.

I'm just trying to survive the cold and make it to spring. I hate winter! I've been looking through my seed catalogs and dreamin' of my garden. I can't wait to see some sun on a regular basis and not feel ice cold.

Anna's Birthday

Hard at work!
Anna had her birthday party at Sugar Art Cake and Candy Supply. The girls got some lessons in cookie decorating and then got to decorate 6 cookies each using their new skillz. They had a blast! And I even learned a trick or too.

The cake, puppies of course!
